Bringing Global Talent to U.S. Classrooms with the Teach Exchange USA Program
Classrooms come alive when students and teachers are exposed to varied global perspectives. International educators bring significant value to the classroom setting, not just for their native language skills but for their fresh approaches and cultural insights that are designed to add another layer to the learning process.
This is exactly what the BridgeUSA Teacher Program aims to do: connect highly qualified international educators with U.S. schools to enrich academic programs, broaden student experiences, and support district-wide staffing needs. Rather than one-off teacher placements, Cenet’s Teach Exchange USA Program emphasizes intentional, culturally focused placements that align educator expertise with district priorities.
The goal is to foster meaningful cultural exchange by bringing in qualified teachers in high-demand subject areas—such as special education, math, and science—as well as educators fluent in Spanish and Mandarin, who bring valuable cultural perspectives and innovative teaching approaches.
- For schools, this program offers a strategic opportunity to address critical staffing needs in high-demand subject areas and expand multilingual, globally enriched learning environments.
- For students, it exposes them to new cultures, languages, and ways of thinking to enrich the overall classroom experience.
- For teachers, they gain hands-on experience in U.S. schools while expanding their professional network and developing new skills to bring back to their home country.
Together, students, teachers, and the entire community can benefit as a whole. As a U.S. Department of State-designated sponsor of the J-1 Teacher Program, here’s how we connect international educators with U.S. classrooms.
What is Teach Exchange USA?
Teach Exchange USA is a J-1 Teacher Program authorized by the U.S. Department of State. For a period of up to three years—with the possibility of a two-year extension—qualified international educators teach in accredited U.S. primary and secondary schools. The program is facilitated by Cultural Exchange Network (Cenet), whose mission is to foster a more prosperous and compassionate world through international education and cultural exchange.
Teach Exchange USA is grounded in mutually beneficial cultural exchange. Teachers contribute subject-matter expertise in high-demand areas such as special education, math, and science, while also bringing diverse global perspectives into the classroom. In turn, students and school communities gain exposure to internationally informed teaching practices and broader cultural understanding.
While the program includes a wide range of disciplines, it places particular emphasis on addressing school needs. Educators bring strengths across subject areas—including STEM, the arts, and other academic fields—helping to create more globally aware and academically enriched learning environments.
Two Ways to Join
There are two ways to participate in this program:

The program is designed to ensure intentional, high-quality placements—aligning educators’ qualifications and experience with district needs, rather than relying on one-time or ad hoc placement models.
2. Join as a Host
Are you looking to fill open positions through the J-1 Teacher Program? U.S. schools and districts can host a Teach Exchange USA educator to support high-demand subject areas, including special education, math, science, and positions requiring Teachers to be bilingual in Mandarin or Spanish. Each placement is intentionally aligned to district priorities, ensuring educators contribute effectively to student outcomes and the broader school community.
Benefits for school districts:
- Access to top international teaching talent, including Spanish and Mandarin educators
- Opportunity to internationalize classrooms and enrich student learning experiences
- Exposure to global approaches and innovative teaching strategies
- Streamlined support for visa sponsorship, onboarding, and program compliance through Cenet
